Top Homemade Fruit Desserts This Summer

Summer is in full swing, and with it, the season of fresh, flavorful fruit to indulge in with gusto! While it may be too hot for elaborate home-cooked meals, that doesn’t mean your oven is going to prove useless for the coming months. As much as we love sweet summer fruit straight off the stem, there is a wide range of tasty options to make something more from them and create fruit desserts the whole family will love. Here, we’ll explore a few of our favorites!

Gooey Peach Pie

This sweet classic never gets old. There are a million great recipes out there, but the key component is catching the peaches at just the right ripeness. You’ll get just a fraction of that delicious taste if the peaches are hard. But you also don’t want them to be too squishy. A little bit of give should be right, but it’s best to wait if you’re in doubt. Our non-stick pie pan will ensure your treat turns out perfectly. Alternatively, if you’re taking it to a party to share, use one of these Eco-Foil disposable options so you don’t have to worry about getting back the pan.

Tangy Raspberry Crisp

We’re going with raspberries, but any kind of in-season fruit would work here. A crisp is similar to a pie but without the crust. You’ll just fill your dish with a your mixture of baked fruit, and then create a topping, usually made of flour, oatmeal, butter, sugar and perhaps even some nuts (for those who aren’t allergic). Definitely easier than making your own crust, and it turns out beautifully. Again, be sure your fruit is at maximum ripeness for best results. Most of these bakeware dishes would work, depending on the size and shape you’re looking for.

Delicious Plum Buckle

For something more “cakey” while still incorporating fruit, a buckle is your answer. A buckle is a simple butter cake with sliced fresh fruit placed on top, resulting in the cake baking up and around the pieces of fruit. The amount of fruit you place on top - whether plums or otherwise - is entirely up to you. You could also mix up the fruit, perhaps choosing your favorite combination of berries or interspersing bananas or apples. Get creative with your taste buds and the design of your buckle. Most of the backpans here will do the trick, depending on how big of a buckle you’re making.

Strawberries & Cream Tart

This decadent dessert will turn heads (and what’s not to love about strawberries and cream?). Your cream filling will be a mixture of sugar, cream and gelatin with a hint of vanilla and - once baked - topped with heaps of chopped strawberries. Our pie pan will be your container of choice for this one as well.

Whatever your dessert of choice is this summer, be sure to take advantage of the season’s beautiful produce that’s just asking to be thrown in the oven and turned into an irresistible treat!  And most of this list of the best summer desserts will thank you for adding a dollop of freshly whipped cream on top, or perhaps a scoop of vanilla ice cream (or both!). Don’t be shy; it’s the season to let loose and enjoy!
